Voice recognition

I was just wondering if any thought has ever been put to voice recognition technology? I would love to be able to contact the tower or LSO by speaking into my mic and have him respond to my call. I am sure the technology is out there. Is it just to expensive to incorperate into a sim? I think calling the ball for real or contacting refueler by voice instead of pressing a keystroke would be alot more realistic not to mention fun.

I use a program called shoot, it is freeware and you can assign keystrokes to voice commands, it runs in the background and takes very little memory, you just have to take time setting up the profile in the same way you would for programmeable joysticks etc.
